Dr. Klaus Kansy |
Klaus Kansy is retired from Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology FIT (2001-2010); previously, he was researcher at the German National Research Center for Computer Science (GMD) since 1969. In 1984 he was 9 month with the Institut national de recherche en informatique et en automatique (IRIA/France).
After his studies of Mathematics at the universities of Münster and Bonn (diploma in 1969 and doctorate in 1972), he started work in Computer Graphics with cartographical projects in 1972.
From 1975-1994 he was member of German and international standardization committees for Computer Graphics. From 1977-1981 he was editor of GKS, the first graphics standard.
He was co-author of the major reference book on the GKS standard, (2 editions in 1984 and 1987, translated into Russian; reprinted in India and China).
He is member of the Eurographics Association since 1981 and Fellow since 1995.
At the 25th Conference Celebration of SIGGRAPH in 1998, he was panelist of the panel: Computer Graphics Pioneers Assess Computer Graphics.
